How it works for caregivers

  1. Create a free profile. Add your experience, availability and the areas you can work in.
  2. Upload your credentials. HCA, NAC, CPR, First Aid, food handler card and training certificates help homes see you are ready.
  3. Browse opportunities. See openings from Adult Family Homes and private clients near you.
  4. Express interest. When a home accepts, Bay Care makes the introduction and you can message or schedule an interview.

Types of caregiver work on Bay Care

What is an Adult Family Home?

An Adult Family Home (AFH) is a residential home licensed by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) that provides room, board and personal care to a small number of adults, usually up to six residents. Working in an AFH means a smaller team, more one-on-one time with residents and a home setting instead of a large facility.

Common questions

Is Bay Care Network free for caregivers?

Yes. Caregivers create a profile, browse opportunities and request introductions at no cost.

What training do I need to work as a caregiver in an Adult Family Home?

Washington long-term care workers generally complete 75 hours of training (orientation, safety and basic training), pass a fingerprint-based background check and earn Home Care Aide certification through the Department of Health. Some workers, such as nursing assistants, may qualify under other credentials. Requirements change, so confirm current rules with DSHS and DOH.

Can I find part-time, night or live-in caregiver jobs?

Yes. Add your availability to your profile, including part-time, nights, weekends or live-in, so homes can see whether your schedule matches their openings.

Can I work with private clients instead of an Adult Family Home?

Yes. Private clients and families also use Bay Care Network to find one-on-one help at home.

Does Bay Care Network hire caregivers?

No. Bay Care Network is a connection platform. We introduce caregivers to Adult Family Homes and private clients, and the home or client makes the hiring decision and handles its own screening.
